Halep honoured by international tennis media

Simona Halep has been named as “Ambassador of the Year” by the International Tennis Writers Association and was presented with her award in Melbourne ahead of her first-round match at the Australian Open.
The award is voted on by the 120-plus members of ITWA, which represents the world’s leading tennis journalist, and recognises a combination of achievements on the court, conduct that shows tennis in the best possible light and co-operation with the media.
Simona, who is a first-time winner of the award, said: “I’m really proud to win this award and be recognised by the tennis journalists in this way. 2018 was a fantastic year for me on and off the court and I definitely spent more time in the press room than usual so it’s great to be named Ambassador of the Year.“
